2021 MLB Predictions Sure to be Wrong

 The 2021 Baseball season starts on Thursday!! It looks like it will be a full 162 game season and back to the traditional playoff format.  I hit two division winners, Dodgers WS champions and Shane Bieber Cy Young.  Biggest miss was calling for a Trevor Bauer implosion and he went on to a dominant Cy Young season.  Let's see how I do in 2021.  

AL East:
1. New York Yankees (99-63)

2. Tampa Bay Rays (84-78)
3. Toronto Blue Jays (82-80)

4. Boston Red Sox (73-89)
5. Baltimore Orioles (58-104)

The Yankees didn't really get better, but the rest of the division didn't either.  The Rays will take a step back but are still on track for a playoff spot.  The Jays bolstered their lineup a bit and will probably hang around for quite a while before fading off.  The Orioles are going to be criminally bad, again.  The Red Sox are going to battle them for the cellar.  

AL Central:
1. Chicago White Sox (96-66)

2. Minnesota Twins (85-77)

3. Cleveland Indians (78-84)
4. Kansas City Royals (71-91)
5. Detroit Tigers (65-97)

The Tribe brass has essentially given up though the building blocks to success are still in place.  The rotation is still going to be one of the best in baseball.  The bullpen and lineup are both going to be extremely shaky.  We are going to have quite a few donuts this season.  The payroll is an absolute joke.  The White Sox have actually made efforts to field a competitive team and should easily win the division.  

AL West:
1. Oakland Athletics (98-64)
2. *Houston Astros (93-69)

3. Los Angeles Angels (88-74)
4. Seattle Mariners (70-92)
5. Texas Rangers (66-96)

The A's are usually good and I discredit them.  So I'll pick them to win.  Maybe this will be the Angels actually make the playoffs with Mike Trout still raking.  The Mariners showed some life in the shortened season, but can ROY Kyle Lewis carry them to success in a full season?  Don't count on it.  

NL East:
1. New York Mets (97-65)

2. Atlanta Braves (95-67)
3. Washington Nationals (81-81)
4. Miami Marlins (77-85)
5. Philadelphia Phillies (73-89)

Frankie Lindor.  What a disgrace the Indians are.  Man up and open the damn wallets for once... The Mets and Braves will battle each other all year as a clear 1-2 punch in the division.  Both make the playoffs and could end up meeting there. 

NL Central:
1. Milwaukee Brewers (88-74)
2. St. Louis Cardinals (86-76)
3. Cincinnati Reds (80-82)
4. Chicago Cubs (69-93)
5. Pittsburgh Pirates (61-101)

I don't really care about this division.  Who ever wins it will be swept in the playoffs.  

NL West:
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (103-59)

2. San Diego Padres (88-74)
3. Arizona Diamondbacks (82-80)
4. Colorado Rockies (74-88)
5. San Francisco Giants (70-92)

Holy cow are the Dodgers good.  The Padres are going to be very good also and could make some playoff noise.

AL Championship Series:

2020 MLB Predictions Sure to be Wrong

Baseball season starts tomorrow!!!  Will be an exciting, shortened season.  Let's get in to it.


Well last year's predictions were pretty horrendous. 

Let's see how this year goes...

2. Tampa Bay Rays (35-25)
3. Boston Red Sox (31-29)
4. Toronto Blue Jays (27-33)
5. Baltimore Orioles (22-38)

The Bronx Bombers will bludgeon the league to death in this shortened season.

AL Central:
1. Cleveland Indians (35-25)
2. Minnesota Twins (34-26)
3. Chicago White Sox (29-31)
4. Kansas City Royals (26-34)
5. Detroit Tigers (23-37)

The Tribe bats better wake up early this season if they have a chance of getting back on top the division.

AL West:
1. Los Angeles Angels (33-27)
2. Oakland Athletics (32-28)
3. *Houston Astros (30-30)
4. Seattle Mariners (25-35)
5. Texas Rangers (20-40)

The Astros will be beaned in to submission this season as they lose the top spot in the west.

Young Braves roll again.  Look for a big tumble from the defending champion Nats.

Reds won't finish last, but the hype balloon will be popped early and often and Trevor Bauer implodes.

2019 MLB Predictions Sure to be Wrong

Holy cow it's the time of year again already.  Opening Day is TODAY!, well sort of.  Supposedly there was two games in Japan last week and Ichiro retired?  No idea, it was March Madness and middle of the night. 

Well last year's predictions were pretty horrendous.  Only three division winners and the playoffs were a disaster. 

Let's see how this year goes...

AL East:
1. New York Yankees (103-59)
2. Boston Red Sox (96-66)
3. Tampa Bay Rays (85-77)
4. Toronto Blue Jays (70-92)
5. Baltimore Orioles (61-101)

The Bronx Bombers are back.  Can they break the single season HR record?  Let's hope not. - I'll leave the same comment in.  This is the year for the Yanks.

3. Detroit Tigers (72-90)
4. Kansas City Royals (72-90)
5. Chicago White Sox (60-100)

Indians with the best rotation in baseball.  Can they win the division averaging under three runs per game?  I guess we'll find out because that lineup is woof.

Well last year's predictions were pretty meh.  I hit all six division winners and the AL wild card.  That's where the success ended.  I only hit one LCS team and whiffed on the World Series as well as all the superlatives.

Wow, I pretty much nailed it last year.  7/10 playoff teams and this World Series gem:

 Assuming the world doesn't end... the Cleveland Curse continues and the Cubs win first World Series since 1908."

2016 MLB Predictions Sure to be Wrong

The yearly picks return after a one year hiatus.  Gallivanting around Europe will cause that... So we won't even get in to how I did in 2014, but I'm pretty sure everything was completely wrong. 

I've managed to not participate in any fantasy baseball leagues the past two years, so haven't been staying up on the sport as much, which means I'll likely ace everything this year.

AL East:
1. Boston Red Sox (91-71)
2. Toronto Blue Jays (90-72)
3. New York Yankees (81-81)
4. Tampa Bay Rays (71-91)
5. Baltimore Orioles (70-92)

The Red Sox bounce back from a horrid 2015 and hold off the Blue Jays for the division title.  It's short lived though as they get swept by the Royals in the divisional playoffs.

AL Central:
1. Kansas City Royals (98-64)
2. Cleveland Indians (94-68)
3. Minnesota Twins (87-75)
4. Detroit Tigers (74-88)
5. Chicago White Sox (66-96)

The Royals hold off the Indians in the AL Central, while the Twins and their young studs are a year away yet.

AL West:

3. LA Angels (82-80)
4. Seattle Mariners (74-88)
5. Texas Rangers (69-93)

The Astros are for real as they cruise to the division title only to get bounced by the Indians in the playoffs.  Mike Trout's talent is again wasted in LA.

The Miracle Mets keep up the momentum from 2015 and cruise to the division title.  The games best two young players in Harper and Trout both miss the playoffs yet again.

3. St. Louis Cardinals (82-80)
4. Milwaukee Brewers (70-92)
5. Cincinnati Reds (56-106)

Is this the year the curse ends?   The Cubs cruise to 100 wins en route to the World Series.  The Reds are easily the worst team in MLB.

It's an even year, so the Giants play well but can't get past the Cubs in the NLCS.
