After nailing one division winner and zero playoff or award winners it can't get any worse, can it? The only good thing I predicted was that Rays wouldn't be awful...
AL East
1. New York Yankees 95-67
2. Boston Red Sox 93-69
3. Tampay Bay Rays 88-74
4. Toronto Blue Jays 77-85
5. Baltimore Orioles 63-99
The Yankees are arguably the most improved team in baseball after adding CC, Burnett, and Tex. Can they live up to the NYC pressure? The Red Sox' biggest concern is health. Can the rotation stay healthy enough for them to beat the Yanks. The Rays will be competitive again, but can the young rotation hold up for another season, especially with Price starting in AAA. The Toronto rotation has been decimated by injuries and defections, but they still have the best arm in baseball in Roy Halladay. The Orioles are the Orioles, but young studs Adam Jones and Nick Markakis could lead this team back to respectablility.
AL Central
1. Cleveland Indians 90-72
2. Minnesota Twins 89-73
3. Chicago White Sox 81-81
4. Kansas City Royals 79-83
5. Detroit Tigers 73-89
It's an odd numbered year so the Tribe is bound to rebound, right? With Victor Martinez and Travis Hafner finally healthy the Indians shouldn't have any trouble hitting the ball, but a unproven rotation led by Cliff Lee will be the deciding factor on success. The Twins continue to succeed on the low budget payroll. A young, talented rotation will be the key to the season.
AL West
1. LA Angels 92-70
2. Oakland Athletics 89-73
3. Texas Rangers 80-82
4. Seattle Mariners 68-94
I wouldn't be surprised if the the A's won the West. If the young rotation can stay healthy it will be tight race with the aging Angels. Texas will continue to pound the ball, but the pitching hasn't quite caught up.
NL East
1. Philadelphia Phillies 92-70
2. NY Mets 90-72
3. Atlanta Braves 82-80
4. Floria Marlins 78-84
5. Washington Nationals 61-101
I see no reason for the Phillies not to repeat in this division. The Mets have strengthened the pen, but a shaky rotation will keep them for overtaking the Phillies. The Nationals are hopeless again, but a midsummer addition of college phenom Stephen Strasburg will jolt some life in to the hapless club.
NL Central
1. Chicago Cubs 94-68
2. Cincinnati Reds 83-79
3. Milwaukee Brewers 81-81
4. St. Louis Cardinals 75-87
5. Houston Astros 74-88
6. Pittsburgh Pirates 69-93
Will the curse for the Cubs end this season? The Reds will be vastly improved with a very talented rotation and promising young hitters.
NL West
1. LA Dodgers 92-70
2. Arizona Diamondbacks 87-75
3. Colorado Rockies 79-83
4. San Francisco Giants 70-92
5. San Diego Padres 66-96
Which bats will the D-Backs bring? Early last year the young lineup was phenomenal and then dried up as the season went on.
AL Divisional Series
New York Yankees 3 Cleveland Indians 2
Boston Red Sox3 LA Angels 1
AL Championship Series
New York Yankees 4 Boston Red Sox 3
NL Divisional Series
Chicago Cubs 3 New York Mets 1
LA Dodgers 3 Philadelphia Phillies 1
NL Championship Series
LA Dodgers 4 Chicago Cubs 3
World Series
New York Yankees 4 LA Dodgers 2
AL Cy Young: Roy Halladay
AL MVP: Grady Sizemore
AL ROY: David Price
NL Cy Young: Cole Hamels
NL MVP: Manny Ramirez
NL ROY: Stephen Strasburg
Yankees in six! Manny will make it an exciting series, but a thin Dodger rotation won't be able to hold up against the vaunted Bronx Bombers!
